Humulus lupulus, commonly known as the hop or willow-wolf, is a perennial climber native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. The female flowers, or hop cones, are primarily used in beer brewing for flavor and preservation.

Traditionally, hops have been used for medicinal purposes and are being researched for their potential to aid sleep, relieve anxiety, and support hormone replacement therapy.

Hops are also used as a dye, food flavoring, perfume ingredient, and spice.
